Jimmy Sturr Orchestra to Kick Off Dyngus Day 2011 in Buffalo
Dyngus Day Buffalo has announced that 18-time Grammy Award winning artist Jimmy Sturr and his Orchestra will perform during the 2011 Dyngus Day Buffalo Festival.
Sturr and his 12-piece orchestra will take the stage at 1pm, Dyngus Day Monday, April 25th at the Sobieski Vodka Fest Hall (Knights Of Columbus Father Justin Council #5670) located at 2735 Union Rd, Cheektowaga. The cost of admission will be the $10 Pussy Willow Pass available at the door. The purchase of the Pussy Willow Pass also allows festival goers to receive discounted admissions to over 15 other 2011 Dyngus Day Festival sites and use of the Sobieski Vodka Shuttle bus system. The nationally touring Jimmy Sturr is regarded as the reigning “Polka King of America.” He has performed at sold out shows at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and even at the famous Palace of Culture in Warsaw, Poland where the band received seven standing ovations. The band features Buffalo native Johnny Karas as primary vocalist and tenor saxophone player.

Ed Guca & his Polish Canadians
Ed Guca & his Polish Canadians will be performing at Dyngus Day for the FIRST TIME. Guca has been a major force in the Toronto, Ontario music scene for 50 years. In 2009, Ed Guca had the honor of being inducted into the International Polka Music Hall of Fame.

From Pennsylvania’s Monongahela Region, the Mon Valley Push returns to Dyngus Day in Buffalo. Formed in 2002, the band features Frank Stetar, Barry Niccolai, Steven Rossi, Blake Haskins and Steven Molish.
